Is Ronin really free?
Yes. The Free plan includes one active budget, full transaction tracking, categories, reports for your current budget, and CSV export. Premium adds power features for $4.99/month or $44.99/year.
What is zero-sum budgeting?
You assign every dollar of income to a category until nothing is unassigned. Ronin also supports the 50/30/20 rule: 50% needs, 30% wants, 20% investment.
Can my partner use it too?
Yes. Ronin accounts are households. On Premium you can invite unlimited members who all share the same budgets and transactions; Free includes one member.
Does it connect to my bank?
No, and that's deliberate. Auto-imported transactions are easy to ignore and easy to trust blindly, even when they're wrong or miscategorized. Entering transactions yourself (or by AI receipt scan, recurring template, or CSV import) keeps you in control and makes sure you actually know where your money is going, the same reason people budget in spreadsheets. We have no current plans to add bank syncing.
How does the free trial work?
Premium comes with a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged today; your card is billed when the trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before that.
What happens if I cancel Premium?
You keep access until the end of your billing period. After that, your newest budget and three newest pockets stay accessible and anything beyond the Free limits is locked until you upgrade. Nothing is deleted, and CSV export always works.
Is there a mobile app?
Ronin is an installable web app (PWA). Add it to your home screen on iPhone or Android and it works like a native app, including push notifications on Premium.
Is my data safe?
You sign in with a password or an emailed login code, your subscription is handled by Stripe (Ronin never stores card numbers), and you can export or delete your account and data at any time.
